The Shaolin Jazz Project will be making it’s first appearance at the ACPA Educational Convnetion in Las Vegas from March 4-6. While we’re there we will be hosting a listening party at the Undefeated store on Tuesday, March 5th.
If you fly out to Vegas to kick it with us, then you will be my homie for life!
My colleague Gerald Watson and I have been busy the past few weeks kicking off our Shaolin Jazz Project 2013 Spring Semester Tour. We just got back from presenting lectures at Villanova University and Carthage College. The next 2 stops are at Indiana State and Tulane University. While in New Orleans we’ll be hosting a listening party at The ReFresh store in the French Quarter. If you’re around (or know someone who will be), come slide thru and kick it with us.

This video teaser (courtesy of Humble Monarch) is just a taste of how serious this year’s DC LOVES DILLA Party is gonna be.
“IT’S THE OFFICIAL!” … The 8th Annual DC LOVES DILLA: DJ Edition is almost here.
This year we’re taking over U Street Music Hall with 10 DJ’s on the lineup, including Detroit’s own Waajeed [founding member of Slum Village & Platinum Pied Pipers]. Mrs. Maureen ‘Ma Dukes’ Yancey will be there as our honorary special guest, and Aniekan Udofia will be doing a live art installation throughout the night. Last but certainly not least, the night will be hosted by the Soul Brother #2, Grap Luva.
Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the J Dilla Foundation for arts education and Lupus research.
One of the illest B-boys I’ve ever seen in person also happens to be one of my co-workers who goes by the alias Toyz-r-Us. Here’s a teaser for a video project he’s currently working on.
To say that the Color of Sound event in Brooklyn a couple weeks back was dope would be an understatement. Just so you can get a taste, here’s a quick video recap of the night shot by Rafael Fuchs (the owner of Fuchs Projects gallery space).
Enjoy…
