The Jones Collection

The Shaolin Jazz Project is about to be off and running for the new year.  To kick things off we’re going to be doing a private lecture at the Miami Ad School in New York.  Immediately afterwards we’ll be heading to Brooklyn to do a special edition of our Color of Sound art exhibition presented by the good people from Brooklyn Wildlife (shouts out to photographer Chris Carr for putting it all in motion).  Come join us on Monday, January 14th in Brookyln NYC at Fuchs Projects for an evening of art, drinks courtesy of Chairman’s Reserve and a special Wu-Tang set by DJ 2-Tone Jones.  Click on the image to RSVP.

2012 has been an incredible year for many reasons.  So it’s only right to celebrate the highlights of the past year by making NYE another highlight.  I’ll be joined by Questlove from The Roots, DJ Underdog, and others at Liv Nightclub (as well as Bohemian Caverns and Tap & Parlour).  If I don’t see you there, then I’ll catch you in the New Year!

My fellow VJ homie, Carolina Cousin, and Skullduggerer Sumkid Majere not only has a new album out entitled Dragon (please do yourself a favor and cop it), but he also has a video for a song off the album entitled, Timeless, produced by NC-bred producer Ski Beatz.  Thorough production, witty wordplay, and some nice eye candy in the video.  Thumbs up bro!

The homie Uptown XO and Secret Society Music are at it again.  Here’s the video for “Rugged” from the Color Gray mixtape.  The track (prod. by A.B. the Pro) features some classic bars from Obi Say and Awthentik.

The end of this year marks the end of an era.  The infamous Low Tone Lounge, the place I’ve called home for over a decade, will be closing its doors for good.  So that means it’s time for one last basement party.  Anyone who’s ever been to one parties I used to do years ago already know how it’s going down.  For those who don’t……do yourself a favor and come thru.  Cause after this Saturday night, there will be no more.

My NC to DC connect, J Scienide, just dropped the video to his latest single entitled, Bobby’s Theme.  Not only does this track easily attract head nods, the video just so happens to feature Mr. Jones on some “Eric B./hype man” steez.

Peep it out….

It just got real…….WHUT THEE?!…Happy Hour Promo Skeaser #2.

The homie Gerald Watson and I are pleased to announce that the next series of our SHAOLIN JAZZ – College Lectures is on the horizon starting with University of Wyoming from Nov. 7-8.  We’ll be conducting a two day series of programming, which will include various speaking engagements, a live performance with Sound of the City, and more.  In addition to these events we’ll also be presenting the second edition of our COLOR of SOUND art exhibition that will also include art from participating art and graphic design students of University of Wyoming.

I’ll be sure to post pictures from the upcoming trip.

The Shaolin Jazz Project team - DJ 2-Tone Jones & Gerald C Watson II - had the idea of producing customized skits for the happy hour based on the skits featured on some of Redman’s albums. Check out the 1st skeaser (…..that’s skit + teaser, or whatever else you think it may be).

RSVP for the Redman Happy Hour on Thursday, Nov. 15th here: http://on.fb.me/QNzPpc

A few years back I had the pleasure of backing up a cat for a local NBC spot called First Heard.  Just a few days ago he dropped a classic album on Aftermath Records called Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City.

Shouts out to the homie Jabari from the A for setting this up….and to Kendrick Lamar for helping to raise the bar in Hip-Hop.
